Attorney Brian Poulter was born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Port Neches, Texas. After graduating from high school in the top 10% of his class, Brian attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he received his bachelor of business administration degree from the McCoy College of Business.
After receiving his degree, Brian went to work for Liberty Mutual at its Austin, Texas office until 2009 when he enrolled at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. While at St. Mary’s, Brian was a scholarship recipient, Dean’s List Honoree, and in the top 20% of his class at the end of his first year. He then transferred to Loyola Law School of Los Angeles for Loyola’s trial advocacy program, which is consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally by US News & World Report.
While at Loyola, Brian excelled on Loyola’s trial advocacy team—also known as the Byrne Team. Brian and his teammates were the 2012 Southern California Regional Champions of the National Trial Competition, which earned the three-person team a bid to compete at Nationals. While at Nationals, Brian and his team advanced to the Elite 8 out of an overall field of over 200 teams. In addition, Brian was selected to compete at Top Gun by the end of his third year of law school, which is an honor bestowed upon the top 16 individual trial advocates in the country. He also received the 2012 International Academy of Trial Attorneys Award for his achievements in the art of trial advocacy, as well as a $20,000 scholarship for being named the Byrne Trial Advocacy Scholar.
During law school, Brian worked as a law clerk at Los Angeles based firm Cohen McKeon LLP for two years. Upon passing the bar exam, Brian accepted a full-time position at Cohen McKeon as an associate trial attorney. Cohen McKeon is a plaintiff's firm comprised of experienced trial attorneys who focus primarily on complex civil litigation, insurance bad-faith litigation, consumer class actions, mental health parity class actions, commercial & business litigation, professional negligence, and employment law. Brian regularly appeared in both state and federal court on behalf of his clients.
In June of 2014, Brian joined the team at Lederer & Nojima LLP as an associate trial attorney. His practice focuses primarily on personal injury litigation, employment law, and insurance bad-faith litigation. Brian is passionate about his cases and his clients. He is, and always has been, a true plaintiff’s lawyer at heart.
Brian is currently a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (“CAALA”), the Consumer Attorneys of California (“CAOC”), and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (“LACBA”).
